The land around Fairmount and Lusk-Lock Roads was strip-mined and is now mostly grassland or agricultural land. This is a good location to find Bobolinks, grassland sparrows, Short-eared Owls, meadowlarks, Horned Larks, and other grassland species. The roads are lightly traveled and there are plenty of spots to pull off. The roads in this area traverse private property. Please view birds from the roadside only.
