Pond Bridge Road Tiverton, Rhode Island 02878
Nonquit Pond is a body of fresh water in Tiverton, Rhode Island, fed by Borden Brook and dammed at the south end at Pond Bridge Road by a wooden dam with a fish ladder. The pond runs off into Almy Brook, which empties into the Sakonnet River.
Nonquit Pond is a spawning area for river herring. River herring are a historically important forage species for commercial fish and are listed as a "species of concern" due to significant declines. The Fish Ladder is used by the fish to get around the dam to feed and reproduce.
