Aside from more common species, Pied-billed Grebe, Northern Pintail, Gadwall, both teal, and Lesser Scaup are possible. Mute Swan and all three scoters have even been recorded. Shorebirds can stop by when water levels are a bit lower, with Semipalmated Plover, Semipalmated Sandpiper, and Short-billed Dowitcher having been recorded among more common species. Listen for Red-bellied Woodpecker and Carolina Wren calling from adjacent woods as you scan the pond.

Situated on the Massachusetts border in southeastern Salem, Worlds End Pond can be a pain to get to, but frequently holds a few surprises that make the trip worthwhile. Take exit 1 off I-93 and follow the road past the Rockingham Mall to NH-28. Take a right and head south on 28 before taking your next left onto Cluff Road. Follow this for 0.8 miles and take a right onto Lawrence Road. After 0.3 miles, take a left on Tyler Street. Merge onto Butler Street and, after 0.3 miles, take a right on Theresa Street. Continue to the end of the street where there is a small parking area.

You can scan the pond from the small point here (watch for poison ivy!) and walk down the trail leading west on the town-owned property from the parking area. This is one of the first bodies of water to open up in spring in this area and can host some interesting waterfowl during that season. It is also worth a visit between October and whenever the pond freezes over in early winter.
