About this Location

Notable Trails

Humphreys Trail is a strenuous rocky trail that has over 3,000 feet of elevation gain! Humphreys Trail is open year-round but snowy conditions can increase the difficulty. Since the snow cover and lack of signage can make navigation difficult, it is recommended that you have your map handy and have proper gear.

This route starts off in the ponderosa pine forest and is all rocks and roots, so watch your knees and ankles on the way down (hiking poles highly recommended). At the top there are several false summits and a decent amount of loose rock so anticipate some rock scrambling. Up past the treeline is usually very windy and exposed, afternoon storms are common in the late summer so it is recommended to start early!
