About this Location

Important Bird Area.
Formed from an old oxbow of the Missouri River, Lake Manawa State Park is just south of Council Bluffs in Pottawattamie Co. Follow U.S. 275 west 1.5 miles off I-29 to the park’s entrance. The lake is surrounded on three sides by many private homes, but there are numerous parking areas where one can park and scan the water for water-related species. Lake Manawa has a very nice list of gulls.

The area with boat ramp access to the Missouri River is host to many lowland woodland species.

Note that out-of-state vehicles are required to have a $5 day use pass.
