Northwood Walking Trail

Northwood Walking Trail

Cambridge, Ohio 43725

About this Location

The Northwood Walking Trail, .5 mile, crosses Wills Creek and connects to Northwood Cemetery. Parking is available on Wills Creek Valley Drive near the oil tank.

The habitat is a mix of urban, grassland, and brushy forest on the northern side of Wills Creek. The southern side has a more mature forest. The bridge over Wills Creek offers a great vantage point for warblers, flycatchers, kingfishers, and occasional waterfowl (mainly Canada Geese and Mallards). The field offers meadowlarks, bluebirds, swallows, buteos, and accipiters year-round. There are also some productive bluebird boxes along the trail. Across the bridge is great for warblers, woodpeckers, Wood Thrush, and other forest-dwelling birds in the spring.

The trail goes uphill to the cemetery where you can find the more urban birds. The cemetery connects to the city park.
