This spot is best when the surrounding landscape is starting to freeze up in early winter. Ducks and geese congregate on the open patches of nutrient rich water, and several uncommon to rare waterfowl have turned up.
Waterfowl, primarily in winter when the pond aerators maintain open water.
Located on the south edge of the town of Slater. This area is signed No Trespassing. You must view the ponds from adjacent roadways. With care, you may be able to pull off on 510th Avenue on the east side of the property although this is a busy road. In the recent past, one could pull to the end of Marshall Street adjacent to Southside Park and scope the ponds from just outside the gate. However, ongoing construction of an algae growing project at this location makes it uncertain whether the ponds will remain visible from the public road here.
