Gould Island

Tiverton, Rhode Island 02878

About this Location

Gould Island lies east of Conanicut Island in Narragansett Bay.  As of 2009, the State of Rhode Island owns part of the island as a wildlife sanctuary, while the Navy and Naval Undersea Warfare Center still own and utilize the remainder of it.

According to an article in Newport This Week in 2019, the Army Corps of Engineers is working to make the island safe for recreation, though they estimated that it would be the mid-2020s before it could be safely opened.
