Taylor Point

About this Location

Taylor Point Park is a 25-acre overlook area developed by the Town in 1988 with assistance from State grant funds.  It is located along Bay View Drive and is a popular place for picnicking, swimming, fishing, and clamming.

Taylor Point comprises a patchwork of habitat types including freshwater wetlands, beach, salt marsh, black cherry woodlands, shrublands, cliffs, and thickets. This undeveloped shorefront has been subjected to varied human impacts since pre-Colonial times. The Taylor Point Restoration Association was formed specifically to remove and manage the invasive species that have overtaken Taylor Point and to nurture and revegetate the area with native species. The Association also seeks to improve degraded footpaths so as to provide safe public shoreline access and to maintain existing views of Narragansett Bay for public enjoyment.

The Taylor Point Restoration Association has maps of current and anticipated trails at Taylor Point.
