Bell’s Vireo and Yellow-breasted Chat have been found just inside the gate at Sand Creek.

About this Location

Sand Creek requires mostly walking. There are some trails through the woods that can be walked, but they can be steep and rugged in places.

About Sand Creek Bird Conservation Area

This 3547 acre area is savanna/woodland/grassland. Northern harriers frequent this area and probably nest here. Priority species found here include black-billed cuckoo, pileated woodpecker, loggerhead shrike, wood thrush, cerulean warbler (also parula warbler), grasshopper sparrow and bobolink. During the BBA project, 79 species were found here.

From Grand River, follow county road R15 1/1/2 miles north/northwest to southeast corner of property.
