About this Location

The 21-acre Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park is located on Huntington Beach Drive, north of High Street in Fairport Harbor. Pedestrians can also access the eastern part of the park via walking trails from Vine and East streets.

The site, managed by Lake Metroparks, features a swimming beach, seasonal concessions, bathhouse, showers, picnic shelters, grills, amphitheater, playground equipment and sand volleyball courts. The Harbor View Deck, added in 2013, is a handicapped-accessible beach-level boardwalk that extends onto the beach and includes benches and picnic tables. A wheelchair specially designed for beach accessibility is available.

The east end of the beach is dog-friendly. A designated dog swimming area is marked. Visitors may launch small watercraft from the beach area. Kayak and paddle board rentals are also available. A parking fee is required during summer. The beach is open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic free of charge.

Along a 0.45-mile stretch of Lake Erie shore, the 17-acre Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park is east of the Grand River mouth. Parking is available in a large lot on Huntington Beach Drive at the northern terminus of High Street, north of the 2nd Street intersection. Additional beach access for foot and bike traffic is at the northern termini of East and Vine streets.

From the base of the pier, a foot-friendly groomed sand beach extends 1,330 feet east. The beach ranges from 140- to 180-feet wide and narrows at the park’s east end where the shore is armored.

Additional amenities at the back of the beach include picnic tables, playground equipment, a concession stand, a kayak rental booth, beach volleyball courts and a bathhouse. Along the park’s south, a narrow tree-lined green space runs the length of the site. On the west, the green space expands south into a 3.5-acre open mowed grass field with a small amphitheater. Adjacent to the south, the historic Fairport Harbor Lighthouse and Marine Museum is at the northwest corner of High and Second streets.

Lakefront Park is adjacent to the east of the Fairport Harbor Port Authority’s Boat Access, which has a 425-foot pier with transient dockage.
