About this Location

In April of 2010, the Knox County Park District, with financial assistance from the Clean Ohio Fund Green Space Conservation Program, acquired a 348-acre property across the road from Honey Run Waterfall. Access the site by using one of two parking lots. One parking lot is located across the road from the entrance to Honey Run Waterfall (10855 Hazel Dell Road). The other parking lot is located north of the intersection of Caves Road and US-62 at Austin Road.

Plans for the site include developing additional trails, geocaches and picnic facilities and habitat restoration. There is a residence in the middle of the park, and visitors should not trespass in this area (or on neighboring properties). Park boundaries are well marked.

The site serves as habitat for the state threatened barn owl. Wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, ring-necked pheasants, and songbirds abound on this diverse site. 60 acres of tall-grass prairie was restored on the site, improving the water quality of Honey Run, improving habitat for bobwhite quail and pheasants and providing soil erosion control.
