This area, especially in winter, is good for Robins, Cedar Waxwings, and with many fruiting crab apples, has the potential of getting something rare such as a Bohemian Waxwing or Varied Thrush. Clear Fork River, with the Wade and Gatton Nurseries across the river, often attracts some ducks during migration, kingfishers, and herons.

In spring and early summer, Yellow-throated Warblers are in the Sycamore trees along the river. Occasionally, Prairie Warblers are found along nearby county roads.

Gatton Rock Road is located off OH-97, east of Bellville and west of Butler in Richland County. The Clear Fork river runs along the south side of Gatton Rock Road. The nursery is private property but Gatton Rock Road gets little traffic.
