US-6 and Coen Road Vermilion, Ohio 44089

About this Location

The 21.2-acre Sherod Park is located at the intersection of US-6 (West Lake Road) and Coen Road in Vermilion Township. Two parking lots are accessible from Coen Road.

Sherod Park’s amenities include baseball and soccer fields, a playground, a picnic shelter, woodchip-surfaced walking trails and a Par Course Fit Center exercise trail with equipment.

Sherod Creek flows through the center of the park. Trails from both sides of the creek descend the bank toward a sandbar, providing access to a swimming beach to the west and shore fishing. Groin structures also provide fishing access. West of the creek, the bluff is cleared and lined with benches, offering unobstructed views of Lake Erie. East of the creek, the bluff is not negotiable.

The Coen Road Access is located within the Coen Road right-of-way and is adjacent to Sherod Park (east). This pocket park was once used as a boat ramp. The site features a collection of flower beds, monuments, benches, water features and an ornamental lighthouse. A gravel path and staircase lead to a beach. Parking is available at Sherod Park.
