Lowell Cemetery was established in 1841. It is one of the first examples of the rural cemetery movement in the United States, which aimed to create naturalistic landscapes for burials. Lowell Cemetery covers 84 acres of land along the Concord River and features many elaborate monuments and mausoleums.
The entrance to Lowell Cemetery is on Knapp Street on the north side of the cemetery near the intersection of Knapp Street with Rogers Street (MA-38).
