Tips for Birding

There is a trail that runs from the north end down to the stream.  From there, the trail forks. The east fork goes uphill to long series of steps up a ravine and to the playground area.  The west fork runs south to the south access road.  The area around the stream and to the east have the best habitat.

Birds of Interest

Acadian Flycatchers usually are singing along the east fork trail described above.  Pileated Woodpeckers at least occasionally use this area.

About this Location

This hotspot is for the main section of the state park that is on the east side of Highway 415.  The roads into this park are all gated closed except for some some limited parking lots, so this is a hike in situation.  Parking at the north end at the NW 66th Avenue gate is probably preferable for birding purposes.
