Macrae Farm is a 288-acre park that contains a diversity of habitats. In its quiet cove near the main entrance by the river, you may spot blue wing teals, American bittern, heron, and a variety of songbirds.
In the lower elevation, floodplain portion of the park, along the Winooski River you will find hayfields and floodplain forest. Several loop trails skirt the meadows providing the opportunity for hiking and cross-country skiing. In the park’s higher elevations you will find primarily hardwood forests dominated by Maple, Ash, Hickory, and Oak. The upland hills offer sweeping views of the Intervale and Green Mountains.
