About this Location

Commissioner Dave Sauber proposed the 5.5 acres of county property along Willow Creek south of OH-18 could be developed into a county park. The federal government, through the Department of Housing and Urban Development, had given the property to Seneca County with the restriction that a park or natural area could be its only use.

In further researching the situation, it was found that a committee with leadership from Autumnwood Care Center had already developed the area as a disability-accessible nature preserve. Funding through an Access to Recreation grant allowed full development of the park in 2008 and 2009.

This park is named in recognition of the dedication to the county parks and those with disabilities by our former director, Roland Zimmerman.

Features of the park include a 5-acre nature preserve, a 0.2-mile paved walkway, fully disability-accessible borders Willow Creek, 2 shelters, picnic tables, resting benches, interactive raised planting beds, and water pump for plants.
