Tips for Birding

Check the tall Canary Island Pines around the park's perimeter for warblers during winter. Look for Great Egrets and other water-associated birds after winter rains leave standing water in the corners of the large ball field / flood control basin.

Birds of Interest

Warblers (pines in winter), Great Egrets (when field is flooded), Western Bluebird, American Pipit, Townsend's Warbler, White-crowned Sparrow, and Dark-eyed Junco. Pine Warbler has been recorded here on a couple of occasions in Yellow-rumped Warbler flocks that move through the Canary Island Pines and feed on the lawn below them.
