Tips for Birding

This small tank sometimes holds waterfowl, grebes, and herons. Pinyon-juniper and Ponderosa pine habitats surround the area. This spot is easy to check while camping in the area or heading to Sycamore Canyon.

About this Location

This extremely popular fishing lake, 19 miles southeast of Williams, is stocked with rainbows and brown trout. Some nice channel catfish have been caught here too. In addition to fishing, the area around this campground offers excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife watching. A trail following the lakeshore and one to Sycamore Canyon Vista are nearby. In addition, a number of forest attractions are nearby, such as Sycamore Point, JD Dam, and the Overland Trail.

About 19 miles southeast of Williams. From Williams, turn south on 4th St. (FR-173, Perkinsville Road) and go 9 miles to FR-110; turn left onto FR-110; go about 7 mi. and turn left onto FR-109; follow to the campground entrance (about 3 miles).
