Green Heron Metropark opened on June 4, 2022 for daily public use. Parking is by the entrance on New London Road with at least 5 spots but carpooling would be suggested for big groups. This 46-acre park features a primitive mile-long trail near the banks of Indian Creek. The trail difficulty is medium to easy and the loop goes through riparian forest and along the bank of a pond hidden by trees that attracts migrating waterfowl.
