Pelham Island Road is a scenic route that runs through the town of Wayland. It connects the historic districts of Cochituate and Wayland Center and passes by several landmarks, such as the Dudley Pond, the Pelham Island Bridge, and the Heard Pond. The road is named after Pelham Island, a small island in the Sudbury River that was once inhabited by Native Americans and later by colonial settlers.
The bridge on Pelham Island Road crosses Pine Brook and the road in this area is adjacent to a swamp.
