At Hickory Woods Park, enjoy trails, a catch-and-release pond, and a sledding hill when the conditions are right. Leashed dogs are permitted on the trails.

The former agricultural fields on this 115-acre site have been transformed into wetlands and prairies and reforested with oak and hickory trees. This park will expand the habitats for a variety of wildlife that calls this site home, such as cottontail rabbits, red foxes, grey tree frogs, and spring peepers. An extensive trail system provides both gravel and primitive trail surfaces that will lead visitors through the park for exploration and discovery.

The theme for this new park is “Inspiring Outdoor Exploration.” Its topography, vegetation, previous land uses, and proximity to residential neighborhoods means that the park lends itself to activities that appeal to a wide range of visitors: small children using the play areas and sledding hill; teens fishing in the pond; adults running the hills; and seniors hiking through the woodlands enjoying the wildlife. Proximity to the Olentangy River allows for future programming opportunities but is not otherwise accessible.
