There are extensive well-mowed paths throughout the prairie and a small pond near the shelter house. There is a creek on the east side that is the easternmost edge but hard to see when the leaves are on the trees.

The Larry R. Yoder Prairie Learning Laboratory is a tallgrass prairie restoration located on the Ohio State Marion campus. The restoration project was started by a small and highly dedicated group of people in 1977. More than 11 acres of restored tallgrass prairie are a showpiece on the campus and an attraction for the surrounding communities. The Prairie Learning Lab is where the community has been connecting with tall grass prairies since 1977.
