Hitting the Hot Spots in Fremont County by Ross Silcock (2003) Bring a spotting scope if you have one.
Migrating waterfowl. This spot can be magical with huge flocks of migrating Snow Geese and Greater White-fronted Geese swirling in the air.
Important Bird Area.
In the northwest corner of Fremont Co., take the Tabor exit (J-10) going east off of I-29. Almost immediately turn south on Western Ave., just under three miles to 135th St. going east. 135th runs close along the south shore of Forney Lake, and the water is easily scoped. If you continue east, the first crossroad at the end of the lake is L-44/Bluff Rd. Turning north, there are two parking areas along L-44 at the east end of the wetland. This is a 1,128 shallow wetland/marsh area.
