Tips for Birding

The best area for birding at Boardman Park is the Eisenhower Trail and the various southern trails in wooded areas, about 3 miles in total. There are two streams running through them that are crossed by footbridges on the trails. The rest of the park is comprised of athletic and recreational fields and facilities.

Birds of Interest

I’ve consistently observed several hawks circling above the woods. Red-Tailed Hawks breed in the area. The wooded habitat looks excellent for owls and Red-shouldered Hawks. Check this park in the spring for warblers and other migrants.

About this Location

Boardman Park preserves 243 acres of green space and provides a variety of recreational facilities and programs year-round. The park is designed as a place to live and interact with family, friends, and neighbors.

The park recently opened a new pedestrian walkway, the North Trail, with the Eisenhower Branch and Maag Theatre Walk. The trail located on the east side of the Main Drive of the Park starts at the Boardman Park Lariccia Family Community Center and travels north to the Bicentennial Rock of Boardman, which is across from Saint James Meetings House.
