The Shawsheen River Conservation Area covers 22 acres of land along the banks of the Shawsheen River, a tributary of the Merrimack River. The park offers hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. The park is managed by the Bedford Conservation Commission and is open year-round from dawn to dusk. The park is accessible from Old Billerica Road and has a small parking lot and a kiosk with maps and information.
Shawsheen River Conservation Area is managed by the Town of Bedford.
The park has two main trails: the River Trail and the Loop Trail. The River Trail follows the river for about 0.8 miles and passes by several scenic spots, such as a waterfall, a dam, and a bridge. The Loop Trail circles around the park for about 1.2 miles and crosses through different habitats, such as a pine forest, a marsh, and a field.
The AllTrails website has a description and map of a hike at Shawsheen River Conservation Area.
