Tips for Birding

Walks the main gravel trail which has forest on one side and grassland on the other, but be sure to poke into the forest on some of the smaller dirt trails as well. 

Birds of Interest

Red-headed Woodpecker, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, Baltimore Oriole, Dickcissel, Eastern wood-Pewee, Common Yellowthroat, great for migrant warblers, thrushes, and sparrows!

About this Location

A small Story County Conservation property with about 1.5 miles of trail. The prominent feature is a wooded ravine with a stream, but there is a small buffer of reconstructed prairie around the perimeter of the property as well. Good for birds all year, but especially during migration! 

Notable Trails

A 1 mile crushed limestone loop around a wooded ravine and several short dirt paths through the forest.
