Kim's Market pond

Tips for Birding

This is a small, concrete flood-control basin that can accumulate a surprising assortment of waterfowl. Park in the Kim's Market parking lot (signs say "for customer's only", but I've never had a problem) and bird by walking along the sidewalk in front of the basin, taking advantage of gaps in the fence to peek through and see what birds are on the pond. Don't neglect the far (northern) end of the pond — interesting birds are often hanging out there. Likewise, the small overflow area at the near (south) end of the pond can sometimes have different birds in it.

Birds of Interest

Ducks, geese, long-legged wading birds, occasionally shorebirds.

About this Location

A tiny hotspot that you can bird thoroughly in 10 minutes. Next to a busy highway — definitely an urban birding experience.
