Shaker Median Trail

About this Location

The Shaker Median Trail provides three miles of paved, multi-use trail in Shaker Heights. Connecting to various schools, parks, and neighborhoods, the trail is an invaluable asset for getting around the community by foot or by bike, and offers a great outdoor recreation option for residents and visitors alike.

The trail runs along a corridor in the wide, wooded median space of Shaker Boulevard, following a pleasant tree-lined route along the edge of residential neighborhoods. The western end of the trail parallels the end of the RTA Rapid Transit light-rail line, which gives way to the lovely Beachwood City Park in the east. With trails running on both the northern and southern sections of the park, trail users have a variety of options for exploring the tranquil grounds of the park. Continuing under the interstate, the trail comes to an end in the small Pepper Pike Park on the western edge of the suburb of Pepper Pike. With its flat, paved surface and surprisingly scenic park surroundings, the Shaker Median Trail is a real asset to its suburban community.

The trail is accessible via the Shaker and Warrensville, Belvoir, West Green Road, and Green Road Stations of the Blue/Green/Waterfront Line of the RTA. Parking is available at Beachwood City Park, with lots on the south side of Shaker Boulevard just east of Sulgrave Road, and on the north side of Shaker Boulevard west of Richmond Road.
