ReCreation Land, managed by American Electric Power (AEP), is an outdoor recreation area in Guernsey, Morgan, Muskingum, and Noble counties built on land once strip mined for its rich coal deposits. AEP has received awards for this project from environmental and conservation groups for going above and beyond the legal requirements for land reclamation.

Hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and camping, are all free for the public to enjoy on 58,800 acres of land in southeastern Ohio. AEP turned this former mining territory into a vibrant recreation area with over 63 million trees, 350 lakes and ponds stocked for fishing, and 293 campsites. The 1400-mile Buckeye Trail also runs through this region.
